COLLAGE

My favorite collage is “Chief Sohappy.” Chief Sohappy is a real Native American who was busted for catching salmon in a river that his people had been catching salmon in for thousands of years! (Non-Native Americans just don’t seem to get it). Anyway, I centered a picture of the Chief on my canvas, cut up a National Geographic magazine, and with a bunch of linguine glued it all together into a collage. The next day I painted it and there it was...a masterpiece. I have a totem pole in my living room I call my “satellite dish to the spirit world,” and I’ve noticed the “Chief Sohappy” collage has an antenna effect as well.
